Dancing with Light – new painting

Dancing with Light – new painting

Dear human.

I see you right there, in the middle. Dancing with the light, rooted in your darkness. It has been a long journey, but you are slowly learning to love both. Darkness give you grounding. Light lift your spirit. When you dance with the light and know your darkness, you are able to create magic – in the tension field between the two. That is what makes you human. And that is why I love you immensely.

“Wow, it is even more luminous and vibrant in real life!” (said about original painting) And yes, it is. An original painting shines with the process that created it.

That is simply so. Hand, heart, thought …. And the inspiration that occasionally honors us humans with its joyous visit. These things can be felt through colors and lines in the room where the artwork is hanging.

It is special to be in a room with an original work of art.

Right now, I’m totally bitten by painting people, and especially inventing new ways to integrate people into mixed media backgrounds.

It seems that mixed media backgrounds with layers of paper and colors mix so well with images of humans – we consist of a thousandlayers, and none of us are ever finished with getting to know ourselves or each other, because there is always just one layer more ; deeper, higher, wilder, quieter (in Danish this is not a word, but it should be!), and more honest!

Well, it is a good thing that I am now finished with my tango trilogy, because I have not had time to dance tango out of pure paint-desire. And there need to be a balance!

Magical circles (and a visit from the magazine Nyt Aspekt)

Magical circles (and a visit from the magazine Nyt Aspekt)

That the image “It is all connected” is showed on an entire page as an illustration for a touching poem by Inger Schiøtt
in the latest issue of New Aspect, makes me both happy and honored.

But that all employees from New Aspect AND Cosmos Center came by and handed the magazine in person – that is pure magic!!!

They had asked if I wanted to lay house, songs and story to an experience for the staff team, and I said YES!. And I’m so glad I did: Beautiful, humorous and warm-hearted, passionate people filled our living room and my studio. Laughter and attentive listening. Appreciation of what really matters.

Thank you life, for this experience. And thank you New Aspect and all dear employees, for bringing both beautiful magazine and your special energy.

In case you want to become a subscriber to New Aspect (in Danish), there is an offer right now where you get 4 numbers for only 100 DKK. (Save 275 DKK, hello!). Find the offer on their website. Super exciting and well-founded magazine on topics related to your body, mind and spirituality.

Cheers to the magic circles of life.

Love from Lise.

WINTER SOLSTICE IS NEAR (are you?)

WINTER SOLSTICE IS NEAR (are you?)

“And in her heart she held the bud
Of all that wanted to grow and flourish
When it was time again”

Dear you

Today, the 21rst of December is winter solstice, the darkest day of the year. From tomorrow the light will slowly return.

Deep secrets are carried under the ground during this time – and the sun, the planets and the stars send their finest energy to help prepare what is happening in the darkness beneath the surface.

It is also in the protective darkness in our mind that new possibilities are born. And our life dreams can too enjoy the fine energy right now.

Protect them well, like the earth protects its seeds. Sit with them, like a witness. Carry them near your heart. Until one day you are ready to let them face the light and begin to shoot where everyone can see them.

Love from Lise.

Creative Quickie – or how I avoid becoming frustrated

Dear YOU.

Are you sometimes feeling a blast of inspiration – perhaps during a break in your work day when you just remembered to take 10 deep breaths? Or in the late afternoon, before cooking dinner and dealing with whatever your early evening tasks look like. Suddenly you feel the urge to DO things, write, arrange, create, build, sow, rearrange?

And do you then, not very long after that, feel a deep and burning frustration of not having enough time or energy to even begin, let alone complete that project you felt so inspired about just an hour earlier?

That´s how many of us feel during our busy lives. And that is exactly why, at a point in my life when I was very frustrated, I created the concept “Creative Quickies”!

It´s so simple and it only takes 5 – 10 min´s to do it. And, it gives your inspiration a place and outlet that in itself can be very healing.

(Creative Quickie: “Just let it out – your life – your beautiful secrets – side by side with your darkness. It is all part of you, all of it! You are OK.”)

Here is how it works:

  1. Browse a magazine – or anything you have with pictures in that it is OK to cut out; now find 1 – 3 images that for some reason speak to you. Don´t try to understand why, just tear them out (I rarely use scissors)!
  1. Glue the image(s) randomly on a blank piece of paper, using a glue stick. I use a notebook without lines, but it could just be a blank piece of paper.
  1. Take a deep breath, and then write whatever words come to your mind. It can be one word, or several sentences. If you wish, add some doodling. Any writing tool will work, but I love to use a permanent marker, so I also can write on the glossy magazine pics. Allow yourself to be a little silly/bold. Embarrassing even.. Enjoy the freedom: no one has to see this, it´s  just for you!

That is it! This way, you can create small “dream-carrier-pages” and know that in 10 min´s you have both been creative AND kept your bigger dreams alive until a day where you will have more undisturbed time and energy to act on them.

There are periods in life where we just don´t get to act much on our creative dreams. Perhaps we are busy building a family, we struggle with health issues or have a very busy job. It is ok not to have much time or energy to be creative for a while when other tasks crave more of our focus. That is simply life, too.

But it´s not ok to feel as if our thoughts and inspiration doesn´t have a home any longer. A Creative Quickie can, amongst many other benefits, be a remedy for that. It is like listening to your creativity, saying: “I am still here, and I hear you. I know you want to play. At some point, you and I will get more time to hang out, but for now, let me just listen to your dreams”.

Hope you will enjoy trying it out!

Seriously, 10 minutes, a magazine, a glue stick (or tape!) and a pen. You can do that, and your creativity will thank you and reward you in ways you can´t even imagine. I promise!

Love from Lise.

(Creative Quickie: “Dear myself. I love how you lean into life. Over and over I can count on your willingness to TRY. Thank you, Eternally, me!)

Want to be a fly on the wall?

Want to be a fly on the wall?

I have recorded a small video for you. No, that is not at all true: I have recorded a very long and rather boring video! I have not yet learned the tricks on how  to create deliciously edited videos that last for max. 5 minutes and still conveys the important stuf. That will hopefully come, but until then ….

If you are among those who think it’s exciting to see other people paint, or if  you lean towards the theory that boredom is healthy – or, if you have sometimes wondered what it would be like to be a fly on my wall while I paint (I´m not imagining you necessarily dream about being a fly), well, then you have the chance now: 1/2 hour raw and unedited painting time where I chat, hum  and are a bit crazy whilst gluing paper on the canvas and allow it to turn into 3 dragonflies in a bigger painting.

WATCH THE “BORING” VIDEO! (During the first 2 minutes I tell part of the secret of how I draw the dragonflies – and from where I get the images – and perhaps you will like the ending too…..scroll away all you like!

Love from Lise.

PS: would you love to learn how to use paper in this way then come join the summer workshop from 27-29 July. 3 wonderful days with time for the immersion it can be hard to find in everyday life. There are currently two available rooms left for overnight students, so if you want one you should probably not wait too long with booking.

STANDING IN GRATITUDE – new art

STANDING IN GRATITUDE – new art

“Standing in Gratitude” Mixed media on canvas, 24 x 30 cm – find it HERE – and please contact me directly for questions about originals

A few pieces of new art has been listed, one of them is this about GRATITUDE

“If you allow yourself to be grateful for the little things you already have, your heart will start to ring with the tune of gratitude.

It does, however require one thing: that you let go of the false luxury of complaining. As in LET IT GO. STOP. NO-GO. NADA. NIENTE.

It is NOT easy. Believe me, I often want to….”

Creative Quickie – when you DON´T have time to create

Creative Quickie – when you DON´T have time to create

Here is a small gift to you: Receipe on how to be creative when you don´t have much time for it.

A Creative quickie is a small exercise I invented when I was a new mama to child No. 2, and child No. 1 suffered from a nasty child eczema. My time and energy to be creative was drastically cut down, but the ideas kept coming and I was very frustrated not to have the opportunity to act on them. And that did not help my children.

Perhaps you are in a situation in your life right now, where the energy and time to be creative is not quite as you could wish? Or maybe you just want to learn a nice little exercise that can make even the most stiffened creative juices gently flowing again?

If you have just 5 to 10 minutes, you can make a Creative Quickie like the one you see above. It is a kind of Creativity medicine, recommended in small daily doses. Diminishes frustration about no time to be creative, and opens strengthen inspiration and action.

You will need: a magazine, a piece of white paper, a glue stick, a marker and the will to risk being embarrassing / crazy / too much.

Here is the recipe:
1. Browse a magazine or anything you have with pictures in, that it is OK to cut in and rip out 1 – 3 images that for some reason speak to you. Dont´t try to understand why, just tear them out!

2. Glue them randomly on a blank piece of paper, using a glue stick. I use a notebook without lines, but it could just be any blank piece of paper.

3. Take a deep breath, then write whatever words come to your mind. Can be one word, or several sentences. If you wish, add some doodling. Any writing tool will work, but I love to use a permanent marker so I can also write on the glossy magazine pics. Allow yourself to be a little silly/bold. Enjoy the freedom: no one has to see this, it´s  just for you!

That´s it! This way you can create your own little “dream-carrier- pages” and know that in just 10 minutes you have both been creative AND kept your bigger creative dreams alive until one day you will have more undisturbed time and energy to act on them.

Love from Lise
