Dear friends.
I have been painting a lot lately. And facebooking a lot. And also Instagramming. And of course sending out my newsletter with shop offers and free printable and stuff. (Subscribe here if you like!). I have not been blogging much though… a bit too many balls perhaps!
But today I am eager to share two new paintings with you. They kind of appeared as twin-paintings, as you can see above.
The first one is about letting go and recognizing your own garden of love. The second is about that natural bond there is between girls, woman, ladies:
“Letting go”, acrylic and paper on deep edge canvas, 60 x 80 cm. – 4.800 kr. / 24 x 32 in, 690 $
This one comes with a small text:
“Let your hair down and allow the wind to flutter through your soul. Release the birds. Dare for a while to doubt and loosen your grip. Let whatever you kept bound in fear, fly freely.
And see, you stand on a fertile ground of love. It was given to you at birth and you can never lose it. Every time you love, forgive, release or look at another with honest, clear eyes, it becomes richer and greener. Water it frequently. And above all: enjoy it! And smile at all the birds you love when they come to refresh themselves in your garden, again and again.”
*******
“Sisters by Nature”, acrylic and paper on deep edge canvas, 60 x 80 cm. – 4.800 kr. / 24 x 32 in, 690 $
The second painting is about that special bond that can be between ladies, woman, girls. A sense of natural connection and understanding that is so special, and, to most ladies, so, so important. I kind of really like how they turned out, plus I personally like the light and green colors a lot.
They are both part of a local exhibition rigth now in Pakhuset, Klintholm Havn on Møn here in Denmark. That is a very charming place. We had the opening last sunday complete with all the 25 artists and over 200 guests, live music, pizza from the local pizzaria (which happens to be the best in the area) and of course drinks and lost of smiles and chats. I love those kind of happenings! Here is a peak into my little booth there, it´s almost a small shop complete with cards, posters, cups and Calendar. And, of course the paintings. If you are nearby I recommend a visit to Pakhuset, this old 3 store building filled with art!
I love how in every booth you get a glimpse of the next; this way the arts and crafts blend and compliment each other very well!
Gotta say, I am actually very happy with the cups! They are really beautifully made with a fine shining finish – in our home they are a clear favorite, and they make a wonderful gift with joyful, uplifting images.
You can really sense how old and raw the building are – that´s also why it´s only used from may to september; it´s too cold in the winter but very charming during summer time. A big bonus is that this part of Møn is very well visited because of the many tourists coming to enjoy the special Møn´s Klint, the beautiful white cliffs.
Till soon, and take much care,
Lise.

I just finished this, one of my bigger paintings:
“RIVER OF MY HEART”
“River of my heart/ Hjertets flod” – 31,5 x 47,2 in/ 80 x 120 cm, acrylic and paper on deep edge canvas. Price: 925 $/ 6.500 kr.
“The river of our heart flows continuously. It contains every emotion, every color, light and darkness, and also all our greyness. Sometimes deep, sometimes low and shallow, and always weaving through life’s landscape of narrowing and widening, wild forests and fine gardens. Its task is to FLOW. And it wants to flow freely, and in return it brings joy in abundance when we dare let it do just that.”
– Lise Meijer
– Lately I have been pondering how emotions are like the weather: they shift according to all kind of outer influences – like high or low pressure, warmth or cold, and also pollution and many other outer or inner causes. It takes a lot of skill to learn to predict the weather, and even when the expets have done their best – they can be wrong! The weather color very much how we experience the day & the world, and it is NEVER permanent! Also, there is always, always a blue sky or a crisp clear starry night to be found behind the clouds.
Above: Celeste (11) recently did my hair with an upside – down heart which I loved!!!
It is the same story with emotions: they move through us all the time and like the weather they can never be completely fixed. They appear due to the processes we are exposed to, inside and outside ourselves, but it can be hard to always determine what caused them to turn up. And even harder to change them when cloudy emotions seem to fill the whole inner sky. The best cure of cloudy emotions I know is MOVEMENT! Any kind of movement; physical exercise, a walk, going to the cimema, doing some cleaning or tidying or creating something. It is also the last thing I want to do when stuck in heavy emotions. But once I do, things slowly shift. It often takes a while, but there will be a shift.
And believe me, I had many (MANY) mornings in my life where I had no idea of how to get myself unstuck enough to begin working! Especially during the latest years where all I had to do was to get up, go upstairs and get myself to create. Wonderful when you FEEL like it! And seemingly impossible at other days. But I have sincerely come to love the fact that there IS something I can do about that state, even if I don´t feel the effect immediately.
I love the fact that I can change my inner weather!
And when nothing else works, I go to the chapter “Mood shifter” in this wonderful book. Highly recommended!
With love from Lise.
PS: as always, I ship worldwide with joy, both items from my shop with prints and cards and original art!

(“Healing hearts”. Text reads: “In the quiet spaces lives JOY – CREATIVITY – CONNECTION + CARE. Healing of our hearts. To purchase this original painting, contact me.)
The other night I sat down in my living room together with Rune after the children were put to bed. During all the busyness of life we have learned that if we want to have some time together we best put it in the calendar, at least once a week. But often, when we reach that point of the day where the dinner has been served + cleaned away and the children has got their attention and love and are put to bed, we are both a bit frazzled. And it takes quite a shift to move into anything new. So, that night, we agreed to just sit for a while. And take a moment to breathe.
And there I sat and was completely STILL. For more than 5 minutes. at 8.30 pm. Wow!
(Me, on a beach on Bornholm)
As I settled, I began to notice the many fine sounds in the room. The calmness of the evening, inviting us to listen to the inner voice and find peace with whatever IS. And I SAW my life, and me in it.
I began noticing how much I have in my life to be grateful for. It is a lot. And I felt the healing of being grateful for what there IS, rather than to long for what IS NOT.
It hit me almost as a chock how I very rarely just SIT. Without having some specific inner or outer activity going on. I have many wonderful practices. I consider my painting process as kind of a meditative state, a deep inner quiet and a connection to fine things. I do running and pilates. And I walk. I also write morning pages. But just sitting without doing anything has not been part of my practise, so far. From now on it will.
And to be quiet together with someone I care for before engaging is a beautiful way to start a meeting.
Thank you, Quiet moment. Once again, I am grateful to be alive. I will try to remember.

“You are a blessing”, paper, pens & acrylics on canvas, 24 x 30 cm. – 1200 DKK/ 206 USD)
The words in this painting reads:
“You are a true blessing. With all your funny quirks & odd colors. You are NOT a burden! You are you……You are a life force, an honest party, a true story and a waterfall of inspiration & beaming smiles. You are a blessing, just as you are!”
One day I was sitting browsing some favorite music videos, and in then my eye caught something in the background of Ed Sheerans “The fault in our stars” video: a yellow stick-on-note on a creative note board with those handwritten words: ” you are NOT a burden”. It only showed for a second or less in the video. But for some reason it moved me deeply. To tears actually. And I felt a deep, deep soul-relief.
Why? I know that many Creative people in this world sometimes feel as if they don´t fit in. I guess all humans feel that from time to time, but I think creative thinkers feel that more frequently.
In this part of the world we have been so, so trained in logic thinking and often so undernourished in our creativity. It takes a lot to stay true to our creativity in a time like this. Our bubbling way of thinking may be perceived by others as funny, weird or even beautiful….but not always as clever or useful.
Many people feel they have been so “de-creativized” (YES, a new word!!!) that logic and common sense seem to rule the day rather than dreams and visions. In that picture creative thinkers may appear as slightly odd and non-practical or without the feet on the ground compared to people who are more logically inclined.
We may even feel as if we are a burden. To others. And to life itself. Just by being ourselves. With all our bubbles. But of course we are needed, too! Very much so. And of course we all need a bit of both logic sense and creativity to have well being and visions and a practically functioning happy life.
Cheers to all our beautiful creative minds who sometimes say or do the oddest things! Our oddnesses makes every single one of us so special!
Xx Lise.

“The more graceful you are able to walk, the more grace will be thrown on your path”
I found this sentence today that I had dotted down on a piece of paper weeks ago. It was followed by these words: “Joy in every single step”.
“Jump into Joy/Hop ind I glæden” 30×40 cm/11,8 x 15,7 in – 2800 kr./ 525 $
The funny thing is, I kind of think I wrote those words, that they came to me during my morning pages. But it was written a while ago I am not completely sure any more. Anyone recognize it? When I google it, all that comes up is advice on high heel walking!!! That wasn´t quite what I had in mind…. But that doesn´t matter, the words ring true to me and help me remember the importance of every single one of my steps today…..and every day. And that is what matters. A good reminder for me today. Most days actually.
To me, walking with Grace means walking through life with the intention to stay aware and bring more light into this place. In whatever way that is possible. And I don´t mean that in any high-flying or quick fix way at all. I see it as a very real life challenge, where what counts most is the small adjustments in attitude. Every day, in every possible step. Some days it may mean accepting my boundaries. Or giving up on things I firmly believed I had to do. And other days it means daring to go out there in the world and do my best to let my light shine, even if it makes me nervous or doubtful at first. A beautiful challenge. I love this part of human life: That we are able to create something uplifting or healing by our small continuous acts of joy and awareness.
Sometimes we need other people to remind us of the importance of all those little things we do to lift human life and bring more light here. So, here´s a little note from me to you: Thank you, whoever you are, for whatever act you are able to put into this world today that will bring more light and joy and make you bounce with grace in your steps.
Xx Lise.
